ABOUT
In collaboration with municipal, provincial, and federal governments, Downtown Sydney is revitalizing Charlotte Street to create a hub for people to gather and businesses to thrive in the heart of Sydney, Cape Breton. This project began with the transformation of 3 areas along the street into street patios that reinvigorated underutilized city space without impacting parking, and provided chalkboards for residents to have their say in how they’d like to see the spaces programmed.
Next, Charlotte Street is undergoing a more complete makeover with a section of the street being redeveloped to better serve and connect the downtown hub. This project includes paving and reshaped sidewalks to improve infrastructure, mobility, and introduce new public seating and gathering areas.
