About

This 3-storey, 12,000-square-foot, wood-frame building on Bluenose Drive has elements dating back to the late 1800s. It is a prominent building on Lunenburg’s working waterfront—part of the UNESCO World Heritage site.

Zwicker Warehouse is envisioned to be a centre of growing marine activity, through facilities and small business opportunities.

With this provincial investment, renovations to the first floor will house permanent and accessible marine visitation facilities including a marina office, laundry, shower, and accessible public washrooms for marine visitors and seasonal visitor attractions.

It will also support opportunities for small businesses and be a possible point for local indoor and outdoor events. Opportunities will go to market in the summer or fall of 2021. This project will build on stabilization work and roof repair work that was previously completed.

In addition, ACOA announced in June 2021 a $600,000 non-repayable contribution to the revitalization project to support this multi-functional space with a focus on year-round. The upgrades will attract new businesses, increase visitor foot traffic, and contribute to the overall tourism offering in Lunenburg. Read more here.

Overall planning for the site includes new site servicing, landscaping, and improvements to the building envelope to enable occupancy for the Ground Floor, and base building improvements to facilitate future long-term tenants on the upper floors for marine business/office use. All of this work will be completed in accordance to the Town of Lunenburg Heritage guidelines.
