Bedford Waterfront Marina Pilot Project

Anticipated to run until mid-November (depending on Mother Nature), Build Nova Scotia has launched a pilot project to gauge interest in the possibility of a marina on the Bedford Waterfront.

Located at the end of Convoy Quay off Waterfront Drive, the floating docks can accommodate vessels up to 60 feet, first come, first served.

In exchange for free daytime and overnight berthing this season, marina staff has a simple ask.

“Let us know when you are using the dock so that we can track usage. Once you pull up, contact us at 902-229-2628 or marina@buildns.ca, and then you can carry on with your day!” says Ian Homosits, Acting Marine Manager and Lunenburg Operations Coordinator.

With growing marina programs offered in Halifax (an international Blue Flag designated marina) and Lunenburg’s working waterfront, the pilot will analyze the demand for a potential marina and what that could look like in Bedford.

To date, feedback has been positive from boaters who have utilized the offering, and Homosits says now that word is getting out, they expect more uptake for the remainder of the season.
