We are Build Nova Scotia. We oversee opportunities to transform our province’s lands and properties in ways that drive our economy forward and improve quality of life for all Nova Scotians.

We steward projects and properties that support healthy communities, build pride and momentum, and stimulate our economy. These places become a magnet for investment and create the conditions for business and community to grow.

A thriving place is a powerful thing. And for Nova Scotia’s communities to reach their full potential, they need partnership, support, and platforms for growth.

Our Projects

Build Nova Scotia leads projects that transform public land and infrastructure into vibrant places that fuel economic growth, strengthen communities, and improve quality of life across the province. Explore the projects making a difference.

QEII Halifax Infirmary Expansion Project

As part of More, Faster: The Action for Health Build, the QEII Halifax Infirmary Expansion Project is the largest healthcare infrastructure project considered in Nova Scotia.

Great places are accessible and they’re connected.

We collaborate with communities to ensure projects and places that matter most to Nova Scotians are brought to life in ways that enrich their homes and lives. And we do that by working behind community to bring their vision to life in the form of facilities to enable healthy communities, waterfronts, public spaces, and platforms for business and innovation. Through the process and the outcome we’re building community, connection, and places for people to thrive.

Cellular for Nova Scotia Program

The Government of Nova Scotia is taking action to improve cellular service, ensuring all Nova Scotians have access where they live, work, learn, or travel on primary roadways.

Internet for Nova Scotia Initiative

Projects are nearing completion to deliver reliable, high-speed Internet access to 99.99%* of homes and businesses across the province. We believe Nova Scotia will be among the first provinces in Canada to reach this level of coverage.

Lunenburg Harbour

Peggy’s Cove Infrastructure Improvement Strategy

Build Nova Scotia worked with the community of Peggy’s Cove on an infrastructure improvement strategy.

Inclusive Language

Conversations About Inclusive Language: A Site Manual & Workbook is a guide to inclusive conversations developed for our Cape Breton construction worksites that supports conversations about equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.

Boat Harbour Remediation Project

Boat Harbour, or A’se’k in Mi’kmaq, was a tidal estuary connected to the Northumberland Strait in Nova Scotia. This project focuses on removing harmful material from the land, water, sediment and wetlands, reconnecting a clean A’se’k to the ocean.

GREAT PLACES ARE BUILT FOR COMMUNITY FIRST.

We believe that the best places to visit aren’t built for the visitor. We work closely with communities to build on quality of place and develop sustainable and accessible year-round destinations. The result is plans and places that are rooted in the strengths of community. They’re created for community first but benefit the visitor, too.
