Kayak Halifax Celebrates 5 Years
We recently caught up with Ed Dowell, owner of Kayak Halifax, located at Sands at Salter on the Halifax waterfront. Happy 5th Anniversary! See you next season.
This is Kayak Halifax’s 5th season on the Halifax waterfront and we offer one of the most unique urban paddles in the world. We are incredibly accessible to residents and guests of Nova Scotia’s capital city. We are a short walk from downtown hotels, universities, office buildings and the cruise terminal yet only a stone’s throw from Georges Island National Historic Site and McNabs Island Provincial Park. What we strive to offer is authentic, ‘live like a local’ experiences and for locals to see their city from a different perspective.
What I love most about operating on the waterfront is the reaction from both visitors and locals who are all equally WOWed by our accessible urban wilderness, maritime history and good times that can all be packed into a day on the waterfront.
It’s hard not to love our city and province with award-winning wineries, amazing craft beer and cider and an incredible culinary and live music scene. In 2018, we will be offering new adventures which feature the best of Halifax and the East Coast lifestyle. I co-founded Sea Sun Kayak School and Adventures, the first ocean kayak company in Halifax in 1996 and have been involved in the outdoor education and adventure industry for 20 years. I’ve volunteered in Africa, studied in Europe, explored Asia, Australia and South America but Nova Scotia will always hold my heart.
Enjoy our amazing Nova Scotia autumns and paddle on.
