Safety + Harm Prevention Program is back at Peggy’s Cove

April 30, 2025—Ongoing Safety Support at Peggy’s Cove

Peggy’s Cove is one of Nova Scotia’s most iconic destinations. With its rugged coastline, powerful surf, and high visitor traffic, safety remains a top priority for Build Nova Scotia.

We continue to deliver our Safety + Harm Prevention Program, a key seasonal initiative that supports public safety and helps reduce the risk of harm across public lands and infrastructure in Peggy’s Cove.

Starting May 1, on-site safety attendants are stationed throughout the cove. These trained staff play an active role in keeping the public informed and supported through:

Monitoring activity on the rocks and warning of unsafe conditions

Providing first aid and calling emergency services when needed

Helping to manage vehicle circulation around the Lobster Lane area and lay-by

Assisting with incident response when required

While they don’t perform water rescues or physical intervention, their presence adds an important layer of safety and peace of mind to the thousands of visitors who experience Peggy’s Cove each season.

We are proud to continue exploring how this team can help support visitor circulation and safety in even more ways across the Cove. With thoughtful planning, education, and real-time support, we’re helping everyone enjoy the natural wonder of Peggy’s Cove, safely.
