Retail Opportunities at Salt Yard

Salt Yard

Bring your local flair and flavour to the Halifax waterfront this summer and join over 25 small local businesses in Salt Yard—one of the Halifax waterfront’s most vibrant districts. Develop Nova Scotia is seeking potential operators for two separate seasonal retail opportunities within the Salt Yard on the Halifax waterfront starting this summer.

The Salt Yard is a popular hub of the Halifax waterfront, with over 30,000 square feet of space offering food, shopping, and entertainment only steps away from the views of Foundation Wharf. Since 2017, Salt Yard has welcomed over a million people to enjoy everything the space and its tenants have to offer—ranging from sunny beer gardens and live music performances to community events and the festive fun of the Evergreen Festival.

This Business Development Opportunity (BDO) is for two unique retail spaces within Salt Yard—a 16’x16’ wood-frame kiosk (Site A) and a 20ft container (Site B), for a three-year license agreement with an optional renewal term of two additional years. Develop Nova Scotia’s objective is to partner with successful operators of each to expand the space’s retail offerings, complement existing seasonal and year-round businesses on the waterfront, and showcase the best of Nova Scotia through authentic products and/or services.

An optional site visit will be conducted on May 20, 2022 starting at 9:00 AM ADT. The meeting point for the site visit is on the Halifax waterfront boardwalk beside “The Wave” sculpture and the provincial Visitor Information Centre building (1655 Lower Water Street). Interested parties are to contact Develop Nova Scotia Property Manager, John MacKenzie (john.mackenzie@buildns.ca).

Closing date on opportunity: May 30, 2022 at 2:00 PM ADT
